Can you handle Whitewater Express Chattahoochee? For river adventurers who want fast-paced excitement, Alabama’s rapids are ready to take care of that. Whitewater Express opened in 2013 with guided and guide-assisted trips beginning in Phenix City on the Chattahoochee River. Containing several Class IV rapids and 10 smaller rapids, this river is the longest urban white-water rafting course in the world.

Come raft with us on the Chattahoochee River in Columbus, Ga. and Phenix City, Ala., the longest urban whitewater rafting in the world! The course has been described to be “Wild as Colorado and as Warm as Costa Rica.” USA Today picked the Chattahoochee Whitewater Park as one of the Top 12 man-made Adventures in the World! This course consists of class III-V whitewater at high water. It is one of the most exciting whitewater rafting rivers in the US! The biggest distinction between this river and other rivers is the volume of water which will be in the river when it is rafted. For comparison, the rapids on the Ocoee River can reach up to 1,100 cubic feet per second in volume, while the rapids at the Chattahoochee can reach up to 13,000 cubic feet per second in volume. This makes the rapids the largest south of Canada and east of the Colorado!

The River Restoration project has allowed many of the fish that were once abundant on the Columbus/Phenix City section of the Chattahoochee to return and repopulate where they once flourished. One species in particular which has become more and more apparent is the Shoal Bass.
